Sunday Social -- Week 24

1. Name 4 jobs you've had in your life.
I have only worked in four places, two of which consisted of the same thing and currently working as a secretary. The other two were front lead cashier at a supermarket and retail at Bath & Body Works (my favorite job ever, seriously.)

2. Name 4 movies you would watch over and over.
Ace Ventura: Pet Detective, Dumb and Dumber, Drop Dead Fred and Austin Powers: The Spy who Shagged Me.

3. Name 4 places you have lived.
I have never moved from Miami. But I have been in different parts of Miami...(does that count?)

4. Name 4 of your favorite foods.
Pasta Alfredo, Sushi, Ceviche and wings. God, I love wings and beer.

5. Name 4 things you always carry with you.
Chapstick, eyeliner, wallet and of course my phone. I never go out of my house without these things.

6. Name 4 places you have been on vacation.
Bahamas, Washington DC, Disney (hey no matter what, that is still a vacation to me) and different beaches throughout Florida. That part makes me glad that I live here, I have various choices for going to the beach.

Sunday Social -- Week 18

1. What were you like in middle school and high school?
I was a very awkward child in middle school and it carried over to high school up until my sophmore year. Then I was the girl all the (nerd) boys wanted. I guess after moving to 3 different high schools, it was like a fresh start for me every year. Left a lot of broken hearts. lol
2. What were your favorite pastimes?
At the high school stage, I'd like to just read my little young adult novels and listen to music.
3. What songs were you obsessed with?
Omg. I would have to go WAY back for this. But it would have to be a mix from Alternative Rock to anything from the 80's. (I had a very broad taste)
4. What fashion statement do you look backing and cringe?
I had no fashion taste to begin with D:
5. Who was your celeb crush?
I never had one. It's not until now that I realize that I have an actual celeb crush. (JGL!)
6. What was your favorite movie?
Is and always will be Hook. But there's a whole lot more to that list but if I had to pick one...

Happy Sunday!

Sunday Social -- Week 15

Sunday Social

1. What is the name if your blog?
Nerd Mom to the Rescue! (I need some more creative ideas...lol)
2. What do you love most about blogging?

I love being able to share ideas and thoughts that run through my head...it's a lot sometimes and I wanna be able to spit it out to those who will listen (err, read).
3. Why did you start blogging?

I started when I was young and it was something I really liked. Now that I'm a mom, I realize that there's a whole lot of us that have things to share and I asked myself "Why not?".
4. What is something you’d want to tell someone just starting out in the blog world?

There's nothing wrong when you have no idea what you are doing. Write because you love it, not because you have to!
5. Biggest blogging learning experience you’ve had?

I'd like to think I'm still learning!
6. What are three blogs you love?

I follow like there's no tomorrow: Jen from Ramblings of a Suburban Mom; Shanon from Life After I Dew and The Beauty Department

Happy Sunday bloggers!

Sunday Social -- Week 14

1. What is your favorite fall activity?
I think hands down, I love the pumpkin carving. I've done it EVERY year with Edward since we got married and it's been a tradition ever since.  JD loves it and loves it even more since last year when he got to scoop out the insides (not my favorite part actually)

2. Do you follow a football team? If so, which one and why?
I am a Dolphins girl by default. I have followed them since I was a little girl and still been a fan since then. None of that bandwagon business for me, GO FINS!

3. What is something fun about fall in your area?
I live in Miami, the fall doesn't exist really. But I do like that it gets a few degrees chillier (I mean 80 degrees by midday).

4. What are your favorite fall staple outfits?
Boots, boots and more boots. I also like it when I get to keep my cardigan on all day. I cannot wait for such a day!

5. What things are you looking forward to most about this coming fall season?
Halloween with E. Oh I cannot wait to see that kind of costume I am going to put her in! I am thinking a little strawberry. Or maybe even this:
via
I'd die from the cuteness and the nerd inside me will melt.
6. What is your favorite fall holiday? Tradition?
See Question one. Other than that, I like Halloween just to see the kids trick-or-treat which is also a tradition in our household.

Happy Sunday readers!

Sunday Social -- Week 13

It's that time again ;) for another Social Sunday:

1. What was your favorite trip/vacation/activity this summer? I didn't really get a chance to go out this summer (bummer) but thankfully I was able to enjoy some time off from school and do a few fun things with my kids. Just not the beach. I am NOT beach ready...
2. What was your favorite outfit look/clothing item of the summer? I finally got the perfect shorts to wear! I love them, they are so comfortable and they flatter me in every single way :D

It's the crossfit.
I got so many compliments, I just need to introduce my legs to the sun a little more...<.<
3. What is one thing you wish you’d gotten to do this summer? I really REALLY wished I could've done that Marco Island trip...but Edward's job never gave him the chance to get out. T_T Now school's back and it makes me a little sad...
4. What was your favorite song of the summer? Hands down: Blurred Lines. I am loving and blasting this song every chance I get ;D
5. What was your favorite movie/tv show of the summer? Unfortunately, most TV shows don't come back until the fall...but Netflix is wonderful. Breaking Bad is definitely on my top list and I can't wait to catch up to the last season.

Seriously, I don't mind being the last one to know everything.

Happy Sunday bloggers! Enjoy, cause I know I will be! ;)

Sunday Social -- Week 12

Time for another link up with Ashley and Neely for a Social Sunday :)

1. What do you miss most about being a kid? I miss waking up late or waking up to seeing my favorite cartoon shows...I miss the energy I used to have to play video games and do a million things...I miss "me" time. lol
2. Did you have a nickname growing up? What was it? I didn't really have a nickname. Except maybe "owl eyes" (no explanation required there) or "that really awkward girl" which is not really a nickname but you could tell what kind of child I was growing up lol
3. What was your favorite thing to do at recess? The monkey bars. Oh and the slides. I still like sliding when I'm at the water park (or some sort of water park).
4. What did you want to be when you grew up? I wanted to be a veterinarian. Lol I love animals :3
5. Did you participate in any school activities? In elementary, not really. By middle school, I joined a science club for all 3 years. Then in high school I went from super nerdy to super fab dancer/flag twirler and back to nerd (I moved like 3 times in my high school years).
6. What is the funniest thing you did as a kid that your parents still remind you about? Well not my parents, but my grandparents have such a great memory for these sorts of things -.- My grandmother specifically remembers where I used to always say "Me first, me first!" for everything. -.- And I mean, EVERYTHING. Oh and I used to laugh at my own jokes. I still do that, actually.

Happy Sunday everyone :)

Sunday Social Week 11

1. What is something you've always wanted to do but are afraid of? I've always wanted to skydive. That's been my dream to do as a big F-U to my fears. Vertigo is like my number one fear next to cockroaches and creepy crawlers.
2. Where do you see yourself in five years? I see myself working on my Master's and by then already renting a house instead of a small apartment and possibly working on baby no. 3 (yes, you heard me. Remember, Edward wants a big family)
3. What are you looking forward to before the end of 2013?  I am looking forward to my first cruise! Woot! I cannot wait and have a countdown on my phone and everything! lol
4. What are your hopes for your blog? I am hoping to see my blog flourish in not only readers but also in discovering myself and the kind of person I am and what I can bring to help other people who also search the internet for answers.
5. Do you always see yourself living in your current town/city? I do and I don't. I do because I have learned to love my city...but then again, maybe there are better opportunities for my family elsewhere and I'll never know until I decide that it's time for bigger and better things. So it's always a big IF and it's a big conversation with Edward but until then, I see myself still living in the beautiful and frustrating MIA.
6. What is your morning routine? Wake up at 7 AM and feed E. JD wakes up shortly after and we cuddle while E is still feeding. We get up and have breakfast in our PJs and then run like crazy (mainly me)  when we realize we've taken too long to get up and eat breakfast. lol

Happy Sunday readers!

Sunday Social Week 9 and 10

It's another edition of Social Sunday over at Ashley Lately and A Complete Waste of Makeup! Here are this week's and last week's questions (yeah, busy weekend!):

-Week 9-

1. What are 3 items you can't live without on a daily basis (water, food, shelter, and clothes don't count) In a day and age where technology has taken over and the information of the world is at your fingertips, I find that the internet is something I cannot live without. I also cannot live without a good/comfy pair of jeans (yes, they said no clothes but this is essential to me). I think we all have that pair where they should've been thrown away long ago but procrastination (and the inability to part) got the best of you.
2. What is your all time favorite book? Why? My all-time favorite book has to be Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. I mean, I love this entire series. But this particular one was 1) long and NOT boring and 2) so full of emotion and craziness, I felt too close to Harry. When I am immersed in a book, there is no way to make me part from it.

3. What is something you'd like to accomplish before the end of 2013?
4. If you could go back and relive any year of your life which year would it be? Maybe my freshman year of high school or my sophomore year. Either one, I had some great times!
5. What do you wish people knew about you without you having to tell them? I don't like fake people. Take your act somewhere else because I'm not interested to see it. Be real, you'll be doing yourself a favor.

-Week 10-

1. When you were little what did you want to be when you grew up? I wanted to be a veterinarian. I love animals. I loved playing doctor on my stuffed animals and I thought that it was something possible for me to do. Until I got older and realized that being a doctor is harder than I thought. lol
2. What was your favorite way to kill time as a kid? My cousins (from my mother's side), my siblings and I used to be street rats. I mean we would be outside from when the sun was out until it was about to set. We also enjoyed being at the pool. Then the PS1(*) came out and we spent hours on that thing playing all sorts of games. Thus my love for video games was further explored since then.
3. When did you get your first cell phone? I got a pre-paid phone when I was 12. Then my dad upgraded me to a full fledged phone with unlimited everything (Metro PCS). Had that Nokia brick phone which I swear could last through the apocalypse. lol
yeah, I don't think I needed to even show you. lol
4. What is your favorite magazine to read? I don't really read magazines. But I pick up a few titles here and there at the line in the grocery store.
5. What is the one random object people would be surprised to find in your purse? At this point, I don't think I can surprise anyone with what I have in my purse. I've got kids man, and I have found half eaten crackers, dirty laundry (I don't know how the heck to this day), sticky candy and other miscellaneous things that make even the biggest hoarder tell me wtf. lol My purse has become an extra diaper bag/garbage dispenser. <.<

Happy Sunday readers!

Social Sunday Week 7 & 8

Another one of those weeks where I find myself missing out on such a great link-up. So here's week 7 and 8 on today's Social Sunday!

-Week 7-
1. What was your favorite TV show as a kid?
I watched a lot of TV as a kid (What kid didn't???) But my favorite show? The Mighty Morphing Power Rangers. Hands down. Oh and Pokemon. :P
2. What is your current favorite TV show?
I don't really watch any current TV shows...on Netflix I am watching 30 Rock and Grey's Anatomy. I was also watching Naruto Shipudden on Hulu but I was tired of all those filler episodes.
3. Which reality show would you NEVER do?
I dislike reality shows. I haven't seen one that I like.
4. Which reality show would you LOVE to do?
Maybe a game show. Jeopardy, college edition. I love trivia!
5. What is the TV personality/character that you feel is most like you?
Liz Lemon. I've mentioned Tina Fey's character so much in precious posts that this should be a no-brainer. lol
We both love food. Among other things, :P
6. Which TV character would you want to date?
I'm not too crazy about any of the characters that are on the TV shows I watch...hahaha, I am so boring.

-Week 8-
1. If you could only eat one thing for the rest of your life, what would it be?
Oh gosh. I can't think of anything that the idea of eating it for the rest of my life would make me sick of it eventually. Could I maybe change it every year or something? <.<
2. What's your guilty pleasure/comfort food?
Cookies. Brownies. Muffins. Cupcakes. Big gallon of ice cold milk.
3. What's the weirdest/craziest thing you've ever eaten?
Frog legs. It wasn't that bad actually. Also, Green Tea ice cream. Don't knock it til you try it.
4. What foods do you avoid at all costs?
A few seafood plates. And few cooked vegetables.
5. What meal reminds you of your childhood?
Steak with mashed potatoes. Mainly because that is what my mother knew how to cook for us. She never really experimented when it came to meals...I REFUSE to be like that and try to spice it up. And when I say spice it up, I mean throw a little oregano in there. lol
6. Share one of your favorite recipes and the story behind it.
Berlines. Phonetically Ber-lee-nes. It's a Chilean treat made of flour stuffed with dulce de leche topped with powdered sugar.
Delicious. Image provided by italialicious.blogspot.com
This is probably the best recipe I have found in the internet on how to make them. It's very simple to make, probably take you a couple of hours. Just scratch off the brown sugar, buttermilk and the vanilla. Fry those suckers up and stuff it with dulce de leche (also called manjar in Chile) and top with powdered sugar.
My mouth just drooled.
Oh yes, story. So my grandmother used to make these for EVERY get together we had in the family. Christmas, birthdays, baptisms, whatever, you could count on those treats being included in the list of food to eat. Anyway, I learned how to so much fry an egg thanks to her. My mom never had time to teach us how to cook... This recipe reminds me of my grandmother and I get all those warm gooey feelings of nostalgia.
I kinda need her handwritten notes on the best way to make this...the recipe is good, it just includes unnecessary ingredients (see above).

Happy Sunday bloggers :)

3. What song reminds you of your childhood? Anything by Queen. Reminds me of basically my entire childhood. lol
4. What songs put you in a good mood? Alibi - SID. This song has not failed me yet, and I hope that it won't ever.
5. What is your music to rock out to in your car? I have made a playlist that consists of like 20+ songs that I ride to. If I am by myself, this music I BLAST until I get to where I need to go.
6. What is the most embarrassing album or song you own? I don't get easily embarrassed by the music that I like. I have a little everything and I love it!

Happy Sunday readers!

Sunday Social Week 4 and 5

I don't know how last Sunday this slipped my mind, but since I really liked the questions from last week, I decided to include it in with this week's Social Sunday.

WEEK 4
1. What is your favorite movie of all time? Ah, favorites are so difficult to choose...so maybe top 5? (in no particular order): Ace Ventura, Pet Detective; Garden State (especially the soundtrack. I fell in love with soundtrack before I even saw the movie); Dumb and Dumber; Hook; Moulin Rouge!.

2. What is your favorite movie quote? I quote movies all day, every day. I can't help it, I always find a situation that calls for a quote from some movie I have watched. But one that always stuck around because it's awesomely funny and ironic:

"Life's a fragile thing, Har. One minute you're chewing on a burger, then next thing you know you're dead meat." -Lloyd, Dumb and Dumber.
3. What is the best movie to watch for a girls night in? I don't think I have had a girls night in. But if it does ever happen, it'll be some sort of zombie movie marathon...or end up watching some romcom that I'll end up liking...I'd still prefer the zombies.
4. What is the best breakup movie? Serendipity. Always. Or How to Deal. Both movies make it to that list.
5. Who would you want to play you in a movie about your life? I don't think any actress looks like me, but I think Tina Fey would most definitely make a good impression of me. And cause I love Tina Fey. lol
6. Which movie star’s closet would you want to raid? How about anybody's closet who has similar tastes to mine?

WEEK 5
1. What is the best trip you’ve ever been on? Our first family trip to Washington DC 2011. I got to see the cherry blossom trees in full bloom. It was beautiful and oh man, when the petals fall, it really does look like in the animes...

2. What is your best idea for a girls weekend trip? Spa/beach weekend. Enough said.
3. What is your best idea for a couples trip? Edward and I would probably also have some sort of beachy getaway...but not spend our day at the beach...

If you know what I mean. ;P
4. What is the best vacation on the cheap? Visiting Washington DC was probably the best (and economical) trip we have ever taken. Whatever we saved on gas (plus we got a steal for plane tickets), we used for other things.
5. What is the place you most want to visit? Tokyo, Japan. This is our dream (Edward and I). I would love nothing more than to visit the place where my favorite animes and mangas come from. lol Plus, I hear it's beautiful. :P

Happy Sunday readers.

June 23, 2013

Sunday Social, Week 3

Sunday Social
1. What is your favorite store to shop at?
I love Forever 21 for jewelry and accessories. Target is my go-to store for clothing and everything else I might need.
2. If you could afford anything and everything, which designer brand would you covet?
I am not a designer clothing brand wearer or user. I never could afford it nor would I want to. <.< That's just me, I'm a strange person. (Maybe I'm not good at hypothetical questions...?)
3. What is your must have closet staple?
Cardigans. I love cardigans. I can't live without them. Even in 100 degree weather.
4. What is your favorite kind of shoes? (brand or type)
I love sandals/flip flops. I always wear them. It's easier than trying to balance in heels (heels are more of an outing shoe), or tying up my tennis shoes.
5. What is the best clothing deal you've ever gotten? (sale or amazing find)
I bought a whole outfit plus an extra v-neck shirt for $20 at Forever 21. I must say, I was impressed with myself and my bargain hunting skills.
6. What is a style you'd love to try?
I'd like to break out of my shell of jeans and t-shirts. Of course, it's comfortable but there has to be more to that right? Maybe more skirts? Shorts? Or will I blind everyone with my pale, bright, white skin?

Enjoy your Sunday!

June 16, 2013

Social Sunday, Week 2

I am linking up for week 2 over at Ashley Lately and Neely for Social Sunday!

1. What is your biggest driving pet peeve?
Impatient people. I cannot stand being cut off simply because I decide to follow the rules. I have my moments where the full-on road rage kicks in but only if I am alone…so unless you see my little rugrats in the back of the car, beware!
2. Biggest Blogging pet peeve?
Word verification. GAH. If you don’t want comments, add this little annoying feature. Other than that, I = happy blogger.
3. Biggest general pet peeve?
I am not very neat. I know this, my husband knows this, my kids will never find out. But, I cannot tolerate other people's messiness. I just can't. I won't. OK, let's be clear, it's not like I'll go into your house and criticize you. No, my house has it's ups and downs, it will never be picture perfect. But if you live with me and you are a slob...I will destroy you. -.-*
4. What is your most irrational fear?
Chucky. I know that it's stupid and very irrational. But damn, that doll to a little kid is THE scariest thing to ever come on the face of this Earth (err, television). Still not over it.
5. 3 celebrities you’d want to have dinner with?
I have this idea that most celebrities are so high up on their horse that they forget that they were once like us. Not famous. So come back to me later with that question once I finish watching these "Inside the Actor's Studio" episodes...

Have a great Father's Day readers!

June 9, 2013

Social Sunday

I am linking up with Ashley Lately for a Sunday Social for the first time. Enjoy :)

1.  How did you come up with your blog name?
It was difficult coming up with a name. I wanted something that could describe my life in one single swoop. I am super mom to my kids and I have a love-hate relationship with it. I am a nerd (not an OMG nerd) and it's been a part of who I am since I accepted it. There was so much more to me but I prefer unraveling myself and let people see for themselves.

2. What is your favorite thing about blogging?
My favorite thing about blogging is how great it is to just vomit words on the internet to make some sense of what your mind is thinking about constantly. Hear me out, I am still finding my voice in the vast-ness that is the internet but I will soon find my place.

3. What is one thing you have discovered because of blogging and now can't live without?
I've discovered that there's a HUGE amount of people that have voiced opinions and like to share certain things that they have learned. I cannot live without reading these blogs, it's like I have peeked into their lives and have allowed to be a part of it.

4. Facebook or Twitter? and why?
Both have their pros and cons. I have tried to use Twitter as much as I possibly could but I cannot be limited in my posts. Facebook is just something I use to connect with distant family members and to keep in touch with certain people.

5. If one celeb read your blog who would you want it to be?
Oy vey, I wish I could tell ya. At the moment, the only celebrity I have my eyes on is JGL. And if he read my blog, I think I could die happy.

6. What is something you want people to know about your blog?
My blog is a big mess right about now since I am still a "newbie" in the blogging ways. But I am sure with much practice, I will come to know my voice. But for now, I can only supply a peek into my crazy life. Here's to hoping that you'll enjoy and maybe take some insight into your own life.

Enjoy your Sunday!
